Who doesn’t want a natural looking tan without any effort or mess? The Million Dollar Tan Extreme, Face version does a great job of providing a deep golden tan without looking like a fake bake.
I love looking like I have spent hours in the sun without all the worries of sun damage. I’ll admit I have spent many summers lying out in the sun just to get that deep golden tan. As I’ve gotten older and wiser, I have realized that the golden tan is just not worth the risks of spending time in the sun. However, with the Million Dollar Tan I can have the best of both worlds.
The self-tanner provides a dark but natural looking tan without the streaks or orange tint. I was really impressed with how easy it is to apply to my face. It doesn’t leave any blotches nor does it cause breakouts. I always hesitate to put anything on my face especially self-tanners or sunblock because of the greasy pore-clogging formulas but this one does not clog my pores nor irritate my skin.
It does apply clear onto the skin. There is no tint so it’s important to apply and blend into the skin in a particular routine so as to not accidentally apply more product to the area of the face that already has product applied to it. I personally use only one pump which I apply to my cheeks first then forehead, chin, nose and then move to the ears and neck areas since they don’t require as much tanner.
It does have a slight scent but it’s not overpowering nor is it bothersome.
It is a gradual tanner so over several hours the tan will begin to develop and deepen into a beautiful tan. If I apply it after my shower at night then by morning it looks as though I had spent the day at the beach. I literally wake up with a glow.
As far as any residue rubbing off on the sheets, I’ve only had it happen a couple of times. Unfortunately it happened to rub off on white sheets but it did not stain the sheets. It easily came out when I washed them. Overall there is no transfer to clothing or sheets once the product is dry.
The key to an easy application is to assure that your face is exfoliated prior to applying the tanner. This way dead skin won’t be interfering with the development of an even tan. I use an exfoliant from the The Body Shop and it works perfectly.
The tan lasts about a week before it starts to fade. The fading process is also very natural looking. It doesn’t leave the face with an uneven skin tone. It simply looks like a natural tan fading.
Depending on how often the self-tanner is applied, the bottle will last several months if not longer since there is not much product that is needed for full coverage of the face and neck.
There is also a version of the product for a lighter tan as well as one that is made for the entire body. I have not tried the lighter version so I can’t speak to how dark of a tan that may develop into. I have tried the version for the body but because of the hefty price and the amount of product that is needed to achieve the color tan I desire I prefer to use a more affordable brand.
It’s a great self-tanner that provides an easy application, it’s not streaky, not orangey, fades naturally and provides a pretty golden tan. Despite all the great qualities of the tanner, its price ($30 for 4oz) is what prevents me from rating it higher. It is quite steep, and if you’re on a budget then this product would most likely put you over it.
