Anyone that has rugs in their home no doubt has faced the ever moving rug problem. The one where we place the rug in one place and find that it’s bunched up or has shifted across the floor. It’s annoying and even time consuming fixing the rug every time it shifts. Shifting rugs can even be a safety hazard that I don’t want to worry about. If you’re anything like me, you have tried all different types of non-skid, double sided tape products that promise to keep rugs in place but find that they fail over and over again. I have tried so many different products and spent a lot of money looking for a solution to the pesky problem. I began to doubt that there was a product that actually works.
Note: I received the double sided tape at a discount in exchange for an unbiased review.
Needless to say, I was cautiously hopeful that this product would be different and actually deliver on the promise to keep rugs in place.
I am thoroughly impressed with the durability and how amazingly sticky this tape feels. I really like that after applying this tape to a rug, the same rug that has caused numerous trips and that has bunched up for years has not budged an inch since applying the tape.
This tape like all double-sided tape can be tricky to apply because if not careful it will stick to itself making the application difficult. I have tried several different types of tape in the past and none of them have worked half as well as this one. It really keeps the rug attached to the floor, there’s no bunching up, moving, shifting, or curling of the ends.
I like that the tape comes on a roll so that it’s possible to cut a strip of the tape to be as short or as long as I need. The tape is super sticky so it isn’t always easy to cut. It took two of us to cut the strips, otherwise the tape attaches to itself. Once attached to itself it’s not possible to separate, which results in wasting of tape. The backing is easy to remove and even if some of the backing is left on the tape, it’s super easy to peel the residue off the tape.
The highly adhesive tape is marketed as safe for carpets, wood floors, rugs and mats. I have only applied it to rugs and carpets so I can’t speak to how or if it affects wood floors or mats.
I have had no reason to remove the tape from the rug since I have applied it so I can’t speak to how easy or how well it can be removed without residue or damage. I will update if and when I remove the tape and even if I have to replace the tape in the future. I have been extremely impressed with the quality and how well it prevents any movement of the rugs.
You can find this amazing carpet tape on Amazon for about $13.
Update: After 8 months of usage, I have not had to replace the tape on the rugs. A real bonus is that the rugs, after lots of foot traffic, still have not budged an inch! This tape has been a real solution to my shifting rugs!
